Typical engagement styles
Virtual CIO (vCIO)
Get the benefit of an enterprise-grade CIO without the enterprise-grade cost
- Ongoing fractional engagement (a few days per week or month depending on your needs) to review, oversee, advise and deliver as required
- Great for smaller organisations without access to a full-time IT leader
- Flexible levels of involvement & cost – click here for more information
Interim CIO
Take charge temporarily during a crisis or between incumbents
- When client is at a crossroads with their IT function / between CIOs – I can “hold the fort”, carry out an independent review and recommend which direction to go (and what sort of permanent CIO to hire)
- When an incumbent CIO has too much on their plate and needs a trusted pair of hands to take on a specific challenge – I can speak the CIO’s language and be “in their corner”
Retained advisor
Ongoing retainer role, usually on a committee
- Typically a member of a Board, Sub Committee or Governance Committee
- Provide independent oversight of IT/cyber function or major IT program
- Ensure the right questions are asked
- Uncover latent issues before they explode
Consultant
Short/sharp one-off engagement to help with high-impact issues, e.g.:
- Cyber risk assessment, development & review of cyber strategy/roadmap
- Cyber awareness presentations to ELT/Board
- IT strategy, operating model or sourcing review
- IT program review
- IT/cyber policy & process development
- M&A technology due diligence & transition planning
Mentor
Confidential executive mentor to CIO/CTO or senior IT leader
- Get the benefit of my lived experience – things done right as well as “scars”
- Tailored to your business priorities and development needs
- Retainer with monthly or fortnightly sessions, sometimes part of a vCIO service
